The Moroccan Association for Human Rights (AMHD) is a Moroccan non-governmental organization based in Rabat, whose main task is the defense of human rights in that country. / p> History

It was created on June 24, 1979. Until 1988 its activity was very limited by the repression exercised by the state administration. From that year onwards it increased its sections, the repression diminished and it was able to begin to develop its project in a more extensive and permanent way until in 1991 began a wide process of expansion, coinciding with a greater political opening, reaching to have 72 sections in 2007 and be recognized as a public utility entity. It claims to have 72 sections and more than 8,000 affiliates. Its highest organ is the National Congress that meets every three years that elects a National Commission as executive body.

Its general purpose is "to work for the preservation of human dignity, respect for all human rights in their universality and global character, and the protection, defense and promotion of these rights" develops its work by publicizing its activity among citizens, spreading the values ​​of human rights, encouraging Morocco to sign international treaties and other agreements on respect for fundamental rights, denunciation of violations of rights and support to victims .

The Moroccan Human Rights Association is a member, among others, of the International Federation of Human Rights Leagues, the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Network and a recognized observer of the United Nations Economic and Social Council.
