Zegna de Vela Trophy

The Zegna de Vela Trophy is a sporting sailing event that takes place every year, since 1989, in Barcelona, under the organization of the Real Club Náutico de Barcelona. The trophy was conceived by the Italian designer Ermenegildo Zegna, in the image and likeness of the "Zegna-Portofino Spring Regatta Trophy", which for years had been celebrated in Italy.

Since 1989 the Zegna Trophy has been growing both in prestige and in number of participants. Initially only boats of the IOR class competed, but it would be one of the first tests to apply the measurement, construction and competition system IMS (International Measurement System), which began to be used in Spain in the summer of 1993. Its growth Subsequent has led him to exceed in several editions the hundred registered boats.

The appointment usually takes place during the three days of a weekend in May.
