Jason Thirsk

Jason Thirsk was born on December 25, 1967 in Hermosa Beach, California, and died on July 29, 1996. He was known for being the original bass player of the punk rock band Pennywise . Biography

Thirsk was a big fan of KISS in his childhood and in high school he became very interested in punk rock music with bands like Black Flag, The Damned or Bad Brains.

He formed Juvenile Deliquents, his first band with three friends, but did not have much success and tried forming Syndicate, which was quickly followed by PMA, a band that had some local success and whose name was influenced by the song of Bad Brains of the same name that meant "positive mental attitude". P.M.A. based his repertoire on versions of other punk bands, but he left because he wanted to play his own songs.

In 1988 he formed Pennywise alongside Jim Lindberg, Fletcher Dragge and Byron McMackin. With Pennywise he recorded 3 records and 2 EPs. Bro Hymn, one of the band's hymns, was written by Thirsk in homage to his friends Tim Colvin, Carlos Canton and Tom Nichols, who died tragically in a car accident.

In 1996 Jason suffered a terrible accident with a gun (it was not an accident, he committed suicide), which causes him to bled to death in his own house. A year later, the band dedicated the album "Full Circle" to Jason Thirsk. In this disc the band re-record Bro Hymn, the song written by Thirsk, changing the name by Bro Hymn Tribute and replacing the part that said "Canton, Colvin, Nichols, this one's for you" (Canton, Colvin, Nichols, this one goes for you ") for" Jason Matthew Thirsk this one's for you ... "(" Jason Matthew Thirsk this one goes for you ... "). His brother, Justin Thirsk and drummer of the punk rock band and punk pop 98 Mute, participates in the recording of this tribute song playing the drums and making the choirs.

His bass teacher, Randy Bradbury, has been in Pennywise since his death.
