Heterometry (Greek heteros, different, and metron, measure) refers to the use of several types of metrics in a poem. Thus the fable The Raven and the Fox, by Jean de La Fontaine, includes Alexandrines, Decasyllables, Octosyllables and a Heptasyllabe; we can therefore speak of a heterometric poem.
