The Western Area Forest Reserve (or Western Area Peninsula Forest Reserve) is a nature reserve in Sierra Leone where hunting is prohibited. The area became a forest reserve in 1916 and has an area of 17,688 hectares. It has been defined by Charles Lane Poole, Sierra Leone's first "Forest Conservator" and founder of the Sierra Leone Forestry Department. It is the westernmost semi-deciduous forest in Sierra Leone, and home to a variety of endangered species, including a wide variety of endangered birds and duikers. Notes and edit the code
