Elizabeth Ramsey (San Carlos, Negros Occidental, December 3, 1931 - October 8, 2015) was a Filipino comedian, singer and actress. Known for her dialogues with a visayan accent, she also acted and sang in other languages such as English and Tagalog, she is considered the "Queen of Rock and Roll" and "Queen of Comedy" in her country. She rose to fame in 1958 after winning a singing contest as Canteen Student, her first performance was broadcast on a Philippine television channel.
Ramsey is also the mother of the Filipino singer Jaya. Biography
Ramsey was born on December 3, 1931 in San Carlos, Negros Occidental. His father was Arturo C. Ramsey, an infant of the Jamaican navy who immigrated and settled in the Philippines, while his mother was a Filipino of Spanish descent, Marcelina Rivera Indino. Personal life
Ramsey had 3 children from his first marriage, which was of Jamaican heritage. After his death, Ramsey married Ray Kagahastian, a Filipino, with whom he had his daughter named, Maria Luisa "Jaya" Ramsey (born 1969), the well-known singer Jaya, before separation.
