Plato Tiburtinus (Plato of Tivoli) was a 12th-century Italian mathematician, astronomer, astrologer and translator who lived in Barcelona. He is known for his translations of Hebrew and Arabic works in Latin, although his knowledge of these languages is probably not very large.
He was, as said, the first to translate information about the astrolabium (an astronomical instrument) from Arabic when he translated the work, Kitab az-Zij, written in 920 by Al Battani from Arabic to Latin .
He was active in the period from 1116 to 1138, possibly from 1134 to 1145. He worked with Abraham Bar Hiyya. Both were interested in astrology. He was a contemporary of Juan Hispano. Externe link
