Johannes van Hout


Johannes Klaas van Hout (Balk, January 23, 1905 - Sneek, June 12, 1972) was a Dutch mayor.

Van Wood began his career in 1921 with the local secretary of Gaasterland, where his father was a municipal secretary. After that he was employed in Bolsward, where he was chief executive officer and finally acting secretary. He was asked at the end of World War II for the function of acting mayor of Hennaarderadeel, on May 1, 1946, he was confirmed as mayor. Then he was Mayor of Wymbritseradeel since 1957. On January 30, 1970 he retired. He died at the hospital in Sneek two years later after complications occurred two weeks after surgery.

Van Hout's three brothers also became mayor: Bauke in Marken (1952), Thijs in Stavoren (1956) and Henk in Gramsbergen (1958). He was a member of the CHU and was a knight in the Order of Orange-Nassau.
