Hans-Jürg Käser


Hans-Jürg Käser (Langenthal, September 6, 1949) is a Swiss politician.

Käser visited lower schools in Langenthal and the gymnasium of Olten, where he specialized in economics. From 1968 he studied philosophy and history at the University of Bern. After that he stayed abroad, namely in Montpellier, Dijon and in the United Kingdom. Then he was a teacher at a high school in Küssnacht am Rigi and from 1990 to 1994 rector of the Langenthal high school.

Käser is active for the Freedom Democratic Party (FDP) and from January 1, 1995 to May 31, 2006, he was City President (Mayor) of Langenthal. From 1998 to 2006 he was also a member of the Great Council of Bern (2004-2006 Group Chairman of the FDP). On June 1, 2006 he entered the Government Council of the canton of Bern and since then he manages the Department of Police and Military Affairs.

Käser was from 2009 to 2010, and from 2015 until 2016, President of the Bern Council of Governors (ie Government Leader) of the Canton of Bern. Also see Externe link
